Did you get where you needed to be?
Let’s see.
Who helped without being noticeable?
Someone who set your table?
Those behind-the-scenes folks
The ones who fill your water glass,
Those who lift those lightweight yokes
Are truly the servant savants.
You may briefly use their name
Thanking them, tipping them, then forgetting them.
However, in the broader scheme
On this Earthly domain please consider this claim -
The Servant that saves your soul –
Is He who stepped into human flesh
And took upon all burdens as His goal
To connect you to The Father, clean and fresh!
He served the ultimate behind-the-scenes solution
To intimately imbue you with the Holy Spirit
Plus, He deigns to bless you with absolution
Then He promises to greet you at Heaven’s gate!
So, when you are doing a lowly chore
Clearing dishes, folding laundry, holding a door -
Remember who models our actions as a saint,
And strive to be a servant savant.
